Vatican delays document on gay priests

The Vatican is sticking to its story that gay clergy are responsible for the horrific acts of child abuse perpetrated by Catholic priests, reports The Guardian.

“Experts on sex offenders say there is no credible evidence that homosexuals are more likely than heterosexuals to abuse children, but several church leaders argue that gay clergy were to blame.”

I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that they would make policy decisions in the face of credible evidence to the contrary, after all, they insist that the world is world is run by some unseen force without any credible evidence for that either.

Nevertheless, as a consequence, The Vatican will now be doing a tour of US seminaries (where the most high profile abuse has occurred – or perhaps simply that Americans could not be persuaded to shut up as successfully as some other nations) to try to address the problem. What is uncertain is the fate of the document discussing whether or not homosexuals ought to be barred from the priesthood.

According to the Guardian report, the church announced in November 2002 that it was drawing up this document, but there is now great confusion about whether it even exists, or if it does, who has it (some say The Pope himself is hanging onto it), and when it will be released – if ever.

American gay news magazine has a more in-depth report: “Expected Vatican ban on gay clergy may be shelved” which reminds us of the dominant thinking from the Vatican. In 1961 their line was:

"Advancement to religious vows and ordination should be barred to those who are afflicted with evil tendencies to homosexuality or pederasty, since for them the common life and the priestly ministry would constitute serious dangers."

Five “popes” later, and there is little evidence that that line has changed. But why the uncertainty about releasing the “sensitive” document? I smell a rat(singer)…

What is clear, however, is that whatever happens, when the ‘Holy Roadshow’ hits the US, we can bet that it will be the gays who get scapegoated for the disgraces of the church.

An even bigger mystery is what attracts gay men to the priesthood (and then keeps them there). Maybe it’s a misplaced Messiah complex – a desire to take on the sins of the church and be crucified by it.

The Great Mendaciousness.

The Vatican has a long & well-deserved reputation for making hysterical, idiotic, vicious, nasty & false claims against its opponents or anything (which just happens to be most things) it disagrees with.

For instance, it was only a couple of weeks ago that pope, “I have had my brain removed” was ranting on about the rise of secularism being responsible for the Holocaust. Given that there is well documented history (stretching back centuries) of Catholic anti-Semitism that at the very least contributed to this & no evidence that secularism did; then the only conclusion to be reached is that he either has not got a clue what he is talking about or he is lying through his teeth. (Or some other more appropriate part of his anatomy).

Therefore, nobody should believe a single word from, The Great Mendaciousness, because dishonesty & disinformation run through this organisation, like the letters run through a stick of rock. Personally, I hope they do stick by their claim that homosexual priests are responsible for the widespread claims of child abuse. Because if nothing else it will expose them to further bad publicity (and it has worked out to be very bad) & when these cases are then investigated, further expose them as the liars that they really are.

Good luck with your blog – Alan.

At this level, I'm told that Paedophillia (or pederasty in this case) isn't usually sexual but comes from a desire to control; rather like rape.

Otherwise normal hetrosexual males are more likely to abuse male children than gay men (who are likely more gentle than controlling).
